EDU459 Contemporary Issues in School Counseling

Reviews a wide array of current issues and strategies for school counseling, including child abuse and mandated reporting; legal and ethical issues; working with multicultural, diverse, and special populations; and the counselor’s role in responding to eating disorders, drug and alcohol abuse, teen pregnancy, violence, and more. The course entails lectures, class discussions, and in-class/extra-class projects that combine knowledge in many disciplines with self-understanding and perceptive abilities.
